About Me
Curiosity. Compassion. Collaboration.
My name is Casey Hrynkow Shewchuk.
For 35 years, I co-owned and ran one of Canada’s most respected design firms. As my own work matured and changed over time I began to use design research and design thinking as a primary skill.
I can help people in power see the big picture, better. With all the influencers in it for profit and pushing things their way, decision-makers can actually lose their way.Going up against developers and profiteers is not a one-and-done deal, but if we can shove things a little bit more toward social justice, I know I've accomplished something, and I believe decision-makers will agree.
Today, with valued colleagues facilitating group sizes from 5 to 60 at a time. I help to provide agency to people who don’t usually get to be decision-makers. I tap into their wisdom and allow them to be champions of their ideas. I have worked extensively with First Nations in British Columbia, as well as cities and universities across Western Canada. I recently presented my work on changing the way many of us see homelessness at TEDxEmilyCarr 2020.
